What I learned from the videos, Exploring Web Design.

Clear concise content, is important when designing a web page. Architecture and design is important for organization. You should generate mockups and test  the web pages with a target audience.
I found it interesting that different browsers will alter how the page is seen.
Web terminology

How the web work was extremely over whelming.

Made of many parts http is the protocal.www.lynda.com is the resource name. the path/port
www is a subdomain a folder Lynda is the domain servers.

Default page is usually the home page
Absolute and relative urls outside the domain or with in the same domain

Dns is the phonebook of the web because the IP address is numbers which is great for a computer not so much a human.

HTTP Transfers data on the web

FTP,SMTP, RTP common web protocols

Pop post office protocol

HTML- tags first used in the early 1990’s

2.0 1995, 4.0 to the rescue

XHTML 1.0 was released in hopes to get rid of HTML but Ended in 2009

RSS real simple syndication. Can update automatically. Link to articles. Java script is needed. Tricky for a novice web builder

Jpg, gif, and png- web graphic formats.

JPEG Joint Photographic experts group compressed with lossy to reduce the file size Graphic interchanges format used for logos or icons

Png-Portable network graphics support millions of colors. Larger files. Older browsers do not support.
Some of the items they went over where very interesting and I had no clue what the terms meant though I would use them almost every day. Some of it was over whelming.
